Any way, what a day.
Got up in the quiet serenity of the Coorong, only noise around was the birds signaling that the sun was about to get up, so we should too (otherwise they will take all of our breakfast) and went to pull in the fishing net we set up last night, had to be done if we wanted breakfast.
WOW, we ended up catching 36 fish, way too much for breakfast, but at least Paul had some to take home with him.
Packed up the net, and fish, and headed back to the hut, for our Scaling, Gutting and Beheading lessons.
We had a production line going, in the end, got the whole job done in no time Paul was impressed, normally he would be there until late morning trying to get it all done.
Now it was Marica's turn to learn to fillet, so we could have breakfast, (the freshest fish you could get). Coorong Mullet on toast was amazing.
Once all cleaned up and set to go, headed back to our bike, which we left in the middle of nowhere, to repack and head out.
We didn't want to leave the Coorong without seeing the pelicans
The short trip out, to the road was terrifying, to say the least. both bike slipping and sliding going in every direction but where we wanted them to go, obviously our tires / bikes we not made to go cross country on water logged sandy, salty, sludgy muddy Coorong ground. Both of us just hoping we didn't need to pick up either of the bikes, should we have come off.
Finally back to solid ground where we could start to ride normally again.......Only to have a really misty foggy ride to Tailem Bend, where we unfortunately hit the freeway.
How boring and monotonous.
Hahndorf for lunch, then Adelaide to see Trevor and Helen, and the pub quiz with Ann and Frank........Where this episode started.
Now trying to catch up with Ritchie, then off to Port Augusta
Hey great fish. Love the scenery.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a ball - except for lost luggage. I didn't expect to see so much fishing in a desert ride!
