22 August 2016

What an interesting night.......
Marica tried to kill me in my sleep, by getting her bike to fall onto me in the middle of the night.
Much to my luck her timer failed, so it fell well before that.......

No not really, we parked both of our bikes on the grass, and hers was unlucky enough to be on a very wet, soft sandy section, which caused her bike stand to sink, resulting in the bike falling.
No one was near at the time and no one got hurt, except maybe for her poor scooter.

Anyway, today was a good day, other than a very late start, due to fog and dew of the cold morning. The sleeping bags did however keep us toasty warm most of the night. Finally things dried up enough that we could pack them away, and head off.

One exciting thing to note was the huge scenery change once we hit SA. No longer was it flat  and straight and yellow canola for kilometers on end, we now had undulating hills, scrub  and sheep as far as the eye could see.

Keith gave us coffee much to our surprise, and Sandra of course took advantage and helped herself to two cups. (Keith is a town BTW)

Arrived at the Coorong, and were met by uncle Paul (Marica's mother-in-law's brother) who has a fishing shack on the shore of the Coorong. We had to leave our bikes in the middle of the access track, due to not being 4WD able, and the some of path was under water.

Home for the night, wait until you see the view...........

Sandra helped Paul cast the net, to catch more Coorong Mullet for breakfast and dinner.......

And no this is not the monster from the deep, coming out at sunset, this is Sandra walking back to shore.

It is so peaceful and quiet here, just listening to the open fire in the fireplace. While Paul is cooking up our fresh caught fish for dinner, which it is important to note, Sandra filleted under the expert tuition of Paul the fisherman.

NIGHT NOW..........talk at you tomorrow.

  1. Hi guys

I am reading and watching your progress :) Sounds like you have already had a few challenges to negotiate. I did try to post earlier, but lost it for some reason.

We saw you heading out (in the rain!). We were on our way to Casey and you guys whizzed (well maybe pootled is a more accurate description) right past our noses! I realised too late to beep and wave, but was sending you good vibes and hoping the rain would disappear (not turn in to hail as it did!).

Sounds like that jerry can is going to get quite a workout!

I've now tested 3 bikes and am pretty sure I've found the one I want. It's in Nowra and we're heading down there this weekend to check it out and hopefully bring it back on the trailer. It's a 2014 SYM 200cc and I have already tried one out here in Canberra, so know that I like them. Will update you Marica after Saturday.

Will keep an eye on your posts and latest adventures. My brother just completed the Oxfam 100km walk - so challenges are happening all over the place!

    Cheers

    Penny
